Class Schedule

Tufts Medical Center offers the following American Heart Association (AHA) courses:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) 
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) 

Please Note Program Changes Based on 2025 AHA Guidelines.

 BLS Training

-New Certification and Recertification

-No online portion; 3hrs in class; BLS Exam
 ACLS Training

-2hrs online; 6-8hrs in class; ACLS Exam 

  PALS Training

-1hr online; 6hrs in class; PALS Exam 

 BLS with ACLS or PALS: Most ACLS and PALS courses offer BLS for one (1) additional hour. Please look for this information in the note section when registering. A current, non-expired BLS card or completion of the BLS online portion is required to take BLS with ACLS or PALS.
 NRP and S.T.A.B.L.E: Private Classes

Eligibility: Classes are offered to Tufts Medical Center Employees who are required to have ACLS/BLS/PALS to perform their job.TMC Employees not required to have these certifications to perform their job or others affiliated with Tufts Medicine may register, but will be placed on a waiting list pending confirmation up until the day of the class.

Cost: Cost is covered for Employees for courses offered on-site. 

Attendance: A 24 hour notice is needed if unable to attend a class. NO SHOWs will be placed on a waiting list when rescheduling on-site. NO SHOWs will not be reimbursed for the same certification taken off-site. To cancel, reschedule, or be added to a waiting list, please email us with a date and time.

Upcoming Classes: We will be adding more classes throughout the year. Please check back here. Private classes, three to six employees and a three-week notice, may be scheduled if requested. Please email us for more information.

External Course: Our pre-approval is needed for courses offered off-site including ACLS Academy, CPR World, Red Cross, or others. We do NOT accept 100% online certifications. If taken off-site, the course must offer a hands-on skills training on an instrumented directive feedback device or manikin. Offering 100% online certifications (which we do NOT accept) are: ACLS Certification Institute, ACLS Medical Training, Advanced Certification Institute, American Academy of CPR and First Aid, American Health Care Academy, American Health Training, CME University, CPR Select, eMedCert, Enjoy CPR Safey Institute, International CPR Institute, National CPR Foundation, Postgraduate Institute for Medicine, ProCPR, ProMed, Telehealth Training and Education, LLC, ...

Reimbursement: We process reimbursement requests for external ACLS and PALS courses for Tufts Medical Center Nurses only. The request form must be submitted prior to the course date. Please do not offer payment until you've received a pre-approval confirmation email from the Center of Excellence: coe@tuftsmedicine.org.

ACLS Training

The ACLS Provider Course has been updated to reflect new science in the 2025 American Heart Association Guidelines for CPR and ECC and the 2025 ACC/AHA/ACEP/NAEMSP/SCAI Guideline for the Management of Patients With Acute Coronary Syndromes. ACLS teaches the importance of preventing cardiac arrest, high performance teams, continuous high-quality CPR, systems of care, recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, post-cardiac arrest care, acute dysrhythmias, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes (ACS). The goal of the ACLS Provider Course is to improve outcomes for adult cardiac arrest, stroke and other cardiopulmonary emergencies through early recognition and time- sensitive interventions by high-performance teams.

This course has 2 components: an online portion which takes 2hrs to complete and a skills portion scheduled for 8hrs. A written exam will be administered in class; the passing score is 84% or higher. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive an ACLS eCard from the American Heart Association valid for 2 years. If BLS is taken with ACLS, a BLS eCard will be issued, also valid for 2 years.

BLS Training

The BLS Provider Course trains participants to promptly recognize and respond to several life-threatening emergencies, perform high-quality CPR, and provide early use of an AED. The 2025 course has been updated to reflect new science in the 2025 American Heart Association Guidelines for CPR and ECC. The BLS Provider Course teaches rescue techniques for adults, children, and infants, Chest compressions, Use of an AED, Effective breaths and ventilation, Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction for adults, children, and infants, and High Performance Teams.

The BLS Training is a 3hr instructor-led Course. No online portion is required. A written exam will be administered in class; the passing score is 84% or higher. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a BLS eCard from the American Heart Association valid for 2 years.

PALS Training

The Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider Course has been updated to reflect new science in the 2025 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC. The goal of the PALS Provider Course is to improve outcomes for pediatric patients by preparing healthcare providers to effectively recognize and intervene in patients with respiratory emergencies, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest by using high-performance team dynamics and high-quality individual skills. This course uses precourse preparation, didactic instruction, and active participation in learning stations and simulated cases.

This course has 2 components: an online portion which takes 1hr to complete and a skills portion scheduled for 6hrs. A written exam will be administered in class; the passing score is 84% or higher. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a PALS eCard from the American Heart Association valid for 2 years. If BLS is taken with PALS, a BLS eCard will be issued, also valid for 2 years.

Neonatal Resuscitation Program

The Neonatal Resuscitation Program® (NRP®) course conveys an evidence-based approach to care of the newborn at birth and facilitates e​ffective team-based care for healthcare professionals who care for newborns at the time of delivery. NRP utilizes a blended learning approach, which includes online testing, online case-based simulations, and hands-on case-based simulation/debriefing that focus on critical leadership, communication, and team-work skills.​

This course has 2 components: an online portion: NRP 9th Edition Advanced Course(1-11) which takes 4hrs to complete and a skills portion scheduled for 3hrs. 

NRP classes are ONLY offered to Tufts Medical Center LDR RNs, MIU RNs, NICU RNs, Pedi ED RNs, Pedi Float Pool RNs, Pedi Transport Team RNs; MIU NPs, NICU NPs; Pedi Respiratory Therapists; NICU PAs; MFM Attendings, MFM Fellows, Neonatologists, NICU Fellows, OB Residents, Pedi ED Physicians, Pedi Hospitalists, Pedi Residents.

S.T.A.B.L.E.

The S.T.A.B.L.E. Program® provides an evidence-based framework for the post-resuscitation stabilization and care of sick and preterm infants. Using a structured mnemonic approach, (S – Sugar; T – Temperature; A – Airway; B – Blood Pressure; L – Lab Work; E – Emotional Support), S.T.A.B.L.E. promotes clinical reasoning, prioritization, communication, and team-based care during the critical period before and during neonatal transport or escalation of care.

Allow 2.5 hours to complete S.T.A.B.L.E. Foundations at home prior to attending the didactic instructor-led course. Allow approximately 6 hours to complete the 7th Edition Learner Course. Learners complete an end-of-module assessment following each module.
