S.T.A.B.L.E. Program Overview
The S.T.A.B.L.E. Program® provides an evidence-based framework for the post-resuscitation stabilization and care of sick and preterm infants. Using a structured mnemonic approach, S.T.A.B.L.E. promotes clinical reasoning, prioritization, communication, and team-based care during the critical period before and during neonatal transport or escalation of care.
S.T.A.B.L.E. utilizes an interactive, learner-centered format designed to optimize learning, retention, and recall of key neonatal stabilization concepts.
S.T.A.B.L.E. stands for the six core assessment and care modules: • S – Sugar • T – Temperature • A – Airway • B – Blood Pressure • L – Lab Work • E – Emotional Support
A 7th module, Quality Improvement, emphasizes communication, teamwork, and professional accountability, with the goal of improving future care through reflection and evaluation. Course Structure
The S.T.A.B.L.E. Learner Course is taught over one day in a didactic-interactive format by instructors with expertise in neonatal nursing, medicine, and respiratory care. A S.T.A.B.L.E. Foundations module is required to be completed prior to coming to the didactic course.
Time Commitment • Allow 2.5 hours to complete S.T.A.B.L.E. Foundations at home prior to attending the didactic instructor-led course • Allow approximately 6 hours to complete the 7th Edition Learner Course • Learners complete an end-of-module assessment following each module
